Report: OKC Thunder trade Isaiah Joe to Pistons

The Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly traded Isaiah Joe to the Detroit Pistons for two future second-round picks, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. They continue to make changes to their supporting cast. This offseason is not for the faint of heart as familiar faces get shipped elsewhere.

Joe has two years, $22.6 million left on his current deal. This includes a 2026-27 team option. The 26-year-old is fresh off a career year, but saw his playing time dwindle in the NBA playoffs. He averaged 11.1 points on 45.5% shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He shot 42.3% from 3 on six attempts.

Well, think we knew this was a real possibility. The Thunder are about to see their payroll balloon for the rest of the decade with upcoming contract extensions kicking in for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren. To avoid the dreadful financial penalties, OKC needed to shave off its cap sheet elsewhere.

The Thunder helped Joe carve out a career as one of the best outside shooting role players in the NBA. He spent four seasons in OKC and helped them win the 2025 NBA championship. His lineups with Gilgeous-Alexander were always killer as he took advantage of his gravity. The Pistons hope he does the same for Cade Cunningham.
