Report – Juventus Add Benfica Goalkeeper to Summer Shortlist
Juventus are reportedly weighing an audacious summer swoop for highly-rated Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Ukrainian star has become the latest goalkeeping target for the Bianconeri.
Landing a new goalkeeper has been one of the club’s highest priorities this summer. With Michele Di Gregorio falling out of favor with Luciano Spalletti, Juventus are desperate to sign a top-class shot-stopper to replace the Italian ace, who could be on his way out in the coming weeks.
Juventus have already identified several potential replacements, including Parma’s Zion Suzuki. However, the Japanese goalkeeper has also drawn interest from Paris Saint-Germain. Furthermore, the reigning European champions have recently intensified their efforts to bring him to the Parc des Princes.
Guglielmo Vicario has also been on the club’s shortlist. Yet, he could end up staying at Tottenham Hotspur. Other high-profile targets, such as Roma’s Mile Svilar and Milan’s Mike Maignan, are out of reach. Therefore, Juventus are now eager to lure Trubin away from Lisbon.
Our take on Juventus & Trubin
Formerly linked with Inter, Trubin remains under contract with Benfica until 2028. He has cemented his place as a regular starter at the Estadio da Luz, and it will take a substantial offer to convince the Portuguese giants to part with their prized asset.
However, there’s little doubt that he would be a major signing for Juventus. At 25, Trubin’s age, experience and commanding presence between the posts make him an appealing long-term option.
If the Bianconeri can strike a deal, they could finally solve their goalkeeping dilemma with a player capable of guarding their net for years to come.
