Jobs have already been on the line in Boston, as the Boston Red Sox decided to move on from Alex Cora and others over the past few months. At the time, it didn’t seem to make much sense, and even a few months later, those moves still don’t seem right.

Others should probably be fired as well, including CBO Craig Breslow. Breslow has done some questionable things during his time in Boston, though he hasn’t taken all of the blame for that, and that was evident when Boston decided to move on from Cora and others.

While it seems possible he could be fired, The Boston Globe now reports that the Red Sox aren’t expected to do so in the immediate future.

“The Red Sox are not considering firing chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, a team source said Monday night.

“Further, amid the team’s underperformance — and speculation that Breslow may be on the hot seat — the club’s ownership hierarchy has not even discussed making a change, the source said,” Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reported.

While the ownership group seemingly hasn’t decided whether to move on from him right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a conversation that happens during the offseason.

Giving Breslow the trade deadline to see what he cooks up might not be the best idea, but Boston might see what he can do one last time and go from there.
