Real Madrid set to accelerate their interest in Rodri as he opens up to leaving Manchester City

According to a report from L’Équipe, Real Madrid have identified Rodri (30) as their next target in the summer transfer window. The La Liga outfit have already completed several signings this summer, but Jose Mourinho wants to add another midfielder to his squad. 

Real Madrid have long been admirers of the Manchester City defensive midfielder. The Spanish giants have been linked with a potential move for the Spain captain since 2024, but have been put off a move due to City’s asking price for the Ballon d’Or winner which has always sat around €100m. With one-year left on his contract, Madrid believe they would be able to negotiate a cheaper price. 

Rodri wishes to return to Spain

Whilst Real Madrid’s interest in Rodri is no secret, neither is his desire to return to Spain. The former Atlético Madrid midfielder is keen to return to the Spanish capital and would be open to joining his former club’s city rivals.
