Julian Alvarez has unexpectedly found himself at the centre of transfer speculation involving Real Madrid, but Atletico Madrid have wasted little time in making their position clear.

Recent reports suggested that Los Blancos could be considering a move for the Argentine forward despite already possessing a crowded attacking department ahead of Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge.

The rumours quickly gained attention given Alvarez’s importance to Atletico and the fierce rivalry between the two Madrid clubs.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico are not entertaining the possibility of a transfer and have delivered a strong message regarding the player’s future.

The report states that Atletico officials have consistently repeated the same response whenever questions about Alvarez’s future have been raised.

The club’s position is straightforward and leaves very little room for interpretation. In that regard, club sources have reportedly insisted, Julián is not for sale.”

That message has been echoed over the past few days as speculation surrounding the forward continues to circulate.

Atletico believe they have complete control of the situation, not only because of the player’s importance to the project but also due to the protections included in his contract.

As such, one of the biggest obstacles facing any interested club is Alvarez’s release clause, which is understood to be close to €500 million.

The report further suggests that if the club were ever forced into discussing a sale, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid would be viewed as acceptable destinations.

At the same time, there has also been a response from Alvarez’s camp.

Addressing the growing rumours, agent Fernando Hidalgo moved to dismiss claims of contact from Real Madrid, stating, “We have no information on the matter, and no one has contacted us about it.”
