Real Madrid ready to reward Arda Guler after his stunning rise under Mourinho

With the transfer window now closed, Real Madrid have started to look in-house at the situations of several players. One of those is Arda Guler, who has made a very impressive start to the 2026-27 season.

Guler has been revolutionised under Mourinho. The 21-year-old predominantly operated as a midfielder under previous head coaches Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, but since the start of the season, he has been positioned on the right side of attack – a role he knows well from his Fenerbahce days. He has one goal and one assist in four matches, but it is his overall play that has caught the eye – and also kept big-money summer signing Yan Diomande out of the team.

Guler has been loving life since Mourinho took over as Real Madrid manager for the second time, and things are about to get better. As per Diario AS, talks are underway for him to sign a new long-term contract, which if finalised, would keep him at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2031.

Guler new contract to include well-earned pay rise

Real Madrid consider now to be the right time to offer Guler a new contract. The plan is for an improved wage package to be included, which would put him in line with the important role that he now holds in the first team squad.

It was only around 15 months ago that Guler’s future as a Real Madrid player looked very uncertain, but now, he is considered to be a crucial player in the first team fold. His performances since the start of last season have justified his standing, and it is only right that he is rewarded with an improved contract, which will also see the club protected in the event that interested parties come calling in the years to come.
