Real Madrid move quickly to seal €50m deal for Chelsea defender
After agreeing deals for Ibrahim Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva, Real Madrid are now set to secure their fourth signing of the summer. Jose Mourinho has been keen to bring a new left-back into his new squad, and the club have moved quickly to secure the services of one of the best players in the world in the position.
In the last 24 hours, it was reported that Real Madrid have registered their interest in Marc Cucurella. The Chelsea man has been a likely candidate to leave this summer, and while Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been following him as a possible signing, Los Blancos officials have already swooped to great effect.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement over a deal for Cucurella, who has also accepted the contract offer that was on the table. The Spain international will jet into the Bernabeu after the 2026 World Cup to finalise the transfer, which will be worth a reported €50m.

Mourinho made it clear to Real Madrid’s sporting department that Cucurella was the player he wanted to be his new left-back. The 27-year-old, who returns to Spanish football five years after swapping Getafe for Brighton, will likely start the 2026-27 season as the club’s starter in the position, which is bad news for the likes of Alvaro Carreras and Ferland Mendy.
Cucurella’s arrival will mean that Real Madrid definitely sell at least one left-back during the summer transfer window. Carreras is likely to be retained, and at 23, he is a candidate to make the position his own in the future. Mendy could depart if the club believes that he is not useful if he cannot stay fit, although the most likely player to move on would be Fran Garcia, who will drop down to fourth in the pecking order.
