It is no secret that Real Madrid maintain cordial ties with all club legends and former players, but the club also often go a step ahead and support their children in their footballing dreams.

In recent times, the Merengues handed out Marcelo’s son Enzo Alves his first professional contract at just 16 years of age and have been supporting his development for a long time now.

Further, word has it that Cristiano Ronaldo’s son trained with the youth categories recently, possibly in a bid to join the academy in the near future.

Two more gems in sight

Now, as reported by Rodra of ESPN, Real Madrid have two more gems in their sights, both of whom are children of former players.

Los Blancos, according to the report, have set their sights on the son of former defender Raphael Varane who is nine years old and predominantly plays as a central defender or a midfielder. They see him as a top prospect and wish to invest in his development.

The second player whose son they wish to rope is Achraf Hakimi. His son came through the Getafe youth system like his father and is rated highly as a top talent.

In the end, however, this will just offer a start and the players will have to climb up the ladder purely based on their merit. For instance, Marcelo’s son has been at the club academy for close to nine years and only now earned a contract.

Still at the ‘interest’ stage

While Real Madrid indeed have their sights firmly on the two young pearls, there have not yet been any concrete steps made in the effort.

At this stage, Real Madrid’s involvement is just of ‘interest’, but it could well advance to real advances soon. A lot will depend on the willingness of the player, their progression and which youth division the club plans to place the players in.

In recent years, La Fabrica has stood out for producing world-class players across the field and has even generated significant income for the club with many graduates receiving top contracts and offers.

To train at the same club their parents represented at an academy so reputed, needless to say, it will be difficult for both prospects to turn down. Everything will depend on when Real Madrid pulls the trigger.
