Presidency blasts Atiku over promise to restore fuel subsidy
The Presidency has slammed the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, describing his promise to restore fuel subsidy, as “hypocrisy and deceit”.
Atiku had, in a recent interview, said he would consider restoring the subsidy removed by President Bola Tinubu if elected President in 2027.
Reacting, a presidential spokesperson, Sunday Dare, in a statement, accused Atiku of attempting to manipulate Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections by promising to reverse the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal policy.
“Atiku Abubakar: Your pronouncement that you will bring back fuel subsidy is drenched in hypocrisy and deceit. It is an unpardonable manipulation of the public psyche, designed to hoodwink unsuspecting Nigerians into voting for you.
“The ongoing recovery across various sectors of our national life annoys you, and will be halted if this thinking of yours is implemented. By the Grace of God, it will not happen and all good men of conscience must rise up against you,” Dare said.
