A five-month pregnant woman has appealed to a Sharia Court in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State to temper justice with mercy on her husband, Ladanai Salisu, after he admitted beating her.

The case was heard before Malam Mubashshir Abdulsalam, with the prosecuting police officer, Corporal Saifullahi Nasidi, presenting the charge against the defendant.

After Salisu pleaded guilty, his wife confirmed the incident but appealed to the court to show him leniency.

She told the court that she still had sympathy for her husband, adding that they had three children together.

The woman reportedly pleaded for mercy, saying, “I still have sympathy for my husband, and we have three children together.”

In its ruling, the court ordered Salisu to buy medication for his wife and sentenced him to one month in prison or a fine of N10,000.

The court also warned him against repeating the offence.
