Police calls for stronger community support to fight crime in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, has called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, youth groups and vigilante organisations to strengthen their collaboration with the police in the fight against crime.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the spokesman of the command, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam.
CP Tijjani made the call while commissioning the newly modern Police Division in Birniwa Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
He urged stakeholders to provide the police with timely and credible information that could help prevent crimes and facilitate the arrest and prosecution of suspected criminals.
The Commissioner said effective policing requires strong partnership between security agencies and the communities they serve, stressing that intelligence from residents remains important in preventing criminal activities.
He also reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, rapid response and effective collaboration with sister security agencies and other stakeholders.
CP Tijjani further assured residents of Birniwa, Hadejia and other parts of Jigawa State that the Police Command would continue to protect lives and property, maintain public order and ensure that criminals have no safe haven in the state.
