The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, gave the assurance in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, and made available to journalists on Saturday.

The command said it had made detailed security arrangements to ensure the elections are peaceful, credible and free from disruption across the state’s 20 local government areas.

Police personnel have also been deployed to strategic locations across the state to protect lives, property and election materials.

The command warned against electoral violence, ballot box snatching, thuggery, vote buying and selling, voter intimidation and other actions that could interfere with the election.

“Perpetrators, sponsors, and their accomplices, irrespective of status or affiliation, will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly,” the statement said.

The police commissioner further assured residents that officers deployed for the election would remain professional and neutral, respect human rights and operate within the law.

The command urged eligible voters to come out and vote without fear. It also asked residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the police emergency lines.

The police said it remained committed to providing a safe environment throughout the electoral process.
