Police arrest two suspected kidnappers connected to failed abduction in Delta

Operatives of “A” Division in collaboration with members of a local vigilante group in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested two suspected kidnappers connected to a failed kidnap attempt that occurred on 19 June 2026.

The suspects,, Iliyasu Hassan and Idris Abdulkarim were arrested on 22 June 2026 at about 2030hrs.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the report in a statement in Warri.

Edafe said the suspects were arrested after emerging from a nearby forest to purchase food and medication.

The Police Image maker said, “Following their arrest, a victim of an earlier kidnapping incident positively identified the suspects as among his attackers.”

According to SP Edafe, “The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.”

He noted that , “Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the criminal gang and recover weapons used in their operations.”
