Police arrest three suspected drug dealers, recover illicit substances in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Police Command says it has recorded another significant operational success with the arrest of three (3) suspected drug dealers during coordinated intelligence-led raids conducted within the state.
SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the state Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Wednesday. stating that the raids were part of its sustained commitment to combating drug-related crimes and safeguarding public safety.
The arrested suspects including; Umar Rabiu (Sarka), 22 years of Unguwar Gamji; Auwalu Muhammad, 25 years of Gusau Quarters; and Umar Akilu, 25 years of Kuka village.
Shiisu explained that the operations which form part of the command’s ongoing crackdown on the sale, distribution, and abuse of illicit substances, led to the recovery of 5,676 pieces of assorted suspected illicit drugs from the suspects.
The recovered Items are, Exol Tramadol, Diazzepam, Pregabalin,, rubber solutio, lara capsules, codeine syrup, suck and die and Indian hemp.
He said , the operatives also recovered the sum of N93,626.00, reasonably believed to be proceeds from the illicit drug trade.
The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism, vigilance, and unwavering commitment in disrupting the activities of criminal elements involved in drug trafficking. He reiterated that the abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotic substances remain major drivers of violent crimes and social vices, particularly among the youth.
The Commissioner further warned individuals engaged in the sale, distribution or consumption of prohibited drugs to desist or face the full weight of the law, emphasizing that the command will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling drug networks and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
SP. Shiisu said the suspects have been arraigned in court.
