“Please Bench Cormani McClain” “Already Getting Put on Blast”: CFB Fans Troll Florida CB For Committing Crucial Penalty Leading to Texas Touchdown
Just minutes into the first quarter, the Florida Gators committed a crucial penalty, leading to the Texas Longhorns’ first touchdown. Gators cornerback Cormani McClain committed a 15-yard defensive pass interference penalty against Texas receiver Cam Coleman.
As seen in the video below, Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning’s long pass was dying down. As Coleman tried to stop himself from going ahead, McClain ended up running him over, therefore committing a penalty that moved Texas deeper into the Gators’ territory. On the ensuing sequence, Manning scrambled for six yards before running back Raleek Brown broke free for a 32-yard touchdown run. As a result, Texas took a 7-0 lead with 11:42 remaining in the first quarter.
Fans online trolled McClain for his penalty.
“Cormani already getting put on blast,” one fan wrote.
“Please bench Cormani ,” another added.
“😂 going to be a long day for 25 in white,” one fan remarked.
“I hate how they always save Qbs who under throw balls by throwing a flag smh,” one fan added.
“Somebody hasn’t taught him to turn his head around that’s an INT if he does.. Prime failed him 😂,” one fan said.
Entering the game against the Longhorns on Saturday, three Florida offensive players were battling injuries.
Starting quarterback Aaron Philo suffered an injury against the South Carolina Gamecocks, and as a result, Florida went with Tramell Jones Jr. as its QB1 this week. Jones has completed 23 of 29 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the first six games of the season.
The Gators received a boost with the addition of senior receiver Bailey Stockton, who has caught 22 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns this season.
The game against Texas is important for Florida in many ways. Following their win over the Ole Miss Rebels, the Gators could greatly increase their odds for College Football Playoff qualification if they are able to take down the Longhorns, who are ranked No. 7 in the country.
After the Texas game, the Gators will face the Georgia Bulldogs on the road. This will be another important SEC clash that could decide Florida’s future in the CFP.
