PlayStation Plus Free Gothic RPG Is A 10/10 75-Hour Masterpiece
Today is finally Halloween, and what better way to celebrate than by dressing up and going to a party by getting stuck into a gothic RPG that guarantees over 75 hours of fun, fear, and feminine energy. Well, luckily, thanks to PlayStation Plus, members can now dive into this 10/10 masterpiece at absolutely no extra cost, and believe me, this is not a game that you will want to put off any longer.
The game in question is none other than Bloodborne, which is available to play for free for PlayStation Plus Extra members. If you are already a gamer, then you do not need me to tell you about this game, especially as it is considered one of the greatest video games of all time, not to mention being regarded as FromSoftware’s magnum opus.
However, if you are still not convinced, or have been put off by FromSoftware’s punishing combat, I am here to tell you that there is nothing to worry about, and that comes from somebody about as coordinated as a goldfish.
Whilst Bloodborne may be known for its punishing bosses and equally punishing standard enemies, it is best known for its Victorian-inspired setting, gothic themes, and stunning world. It deals with themes of motherhood, femininity, menstruation, cosmic horror, agency, and control. With its director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, wanting to create a game that centered around curiosity and fear in equal measure when facing the unknown, he most certainly achieved that, as there will be entire beings you will only be able to see once you have played enough of the game.
Set in the city of Yharnam, the story follows a Hunter as they are tasked with uncovering why its residents have turned into blood-starved beasts, and it is not long before they discover that higher, cosmic beings may be responsible for the destruction that has rained down on the cobbled streets.
According to HowLongToBeat, Bloodborne takes 32 hours to complete the main story. However, if you wish to attempt the side content, known as Chalice Dungeons (and I picked the word “attempt” on purpose), you can enjoy the FromSoftware title for up to 75 hours if you wish to earn the platinum trophy.
As such, for absolutely no cost added to your standard PlayStation Plus Extra subscription, you will be able to enjoy one of the best video games ever made, and sink endless hours into a world that is still praised well over a decade since its initial launch.
After all, it is always worth addressing the elephant in the room when it comes to Bloodborne, and that is its lack of an official remaster, remake, PC port, or even a 60fps update. With Sony dragging its heels when it comes to giving fans what they want, it seems as though we are still stuck with Bloodborne in its current state.
That being said, its lack of remaster, remake, ports, or updates still do not stop it being a true masterpiece, and it is available to download from the PlayStation Plus Extra library right now.
