PlayStation 5's Next Exclusive After Marvel's Wolverine Officially Confirmed

PlayStation 5 owners have a handful of exclusives to whet the palate, with the most recent being Marvel’s Wolverine in September. As with its past two predecessors, the PS5 is taking a little time to get its library of exclusives built up. The next PS5 exclusive isn’t far off, but won’t be a 2026 release.

Marvel’s Wolverine released earlier this fall to relatively mixed reviews for an Insomiac game, especially considering the critical acclaim of the studio’s prior Marvel’s Spider-Man games and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the platform. Wolverine is the lowest rated of Insomniac’s PlayStation 5 exclusives, leading fans to wonder what’s next on the exclusive pipeline for Sony’s console.

The Next PS5 Exclusive Is A Horror Game

The next PlayStation 5 exclusive is a big shift away from the Marvel universe, and by different developers. Until Dawn 2 is set to be the next exclusive game for the platform, developed by Firesprite and AdHoc Studio. The former is best known for co-developing Horizon Call of the Mountain, while the latter developed the critical and fan-favorite Dispatch released in 2025. Until Dawn 2 is scheduled for release on January 28, 2027, not too long after the holiday seasons.

The original Until Dawn and its 2024 remake were met with critical success for the game’s storytelling and writing. Those who missed out on the first game won’t have to worry about story continuity with the sequel. Until Dawn 2 features a standalone story with a few references to the original, though it will follow in its footsteps as a narrative-driven horror title where player choices matter.

The game will follow a group of ghost hunters to a tropical vacation spot. They may have come to the jungle to fake paranormal activity, but what they find there is very real. They will have to survive perils, supernatural and otherwise, with player choice as their guide to make it out alive. And as the trailer shows briefly, there will be plenty of drama and some extreme gore in this horror adventure PS5 exclusive.

Player choices will alter the story. As with the first game, no character is safe. Making certain choices or staying down a particular narrative path can spell doom for any of the characters in Until Dawn 2.

The inclusion of AdHoc Studios in the development of Until Dawn 2 bodes well for the game’s writing. Dispatch was lauded by fans and critics alike for its writing, particularly how witty and relatable the writing was for the game. Firesprite’s work on Horizon Call of the Mountain was also critically acclaimed, as well as the writing and direction of the original Until Dawn game.

PlayStation 5 owners have a couple of months to wait until they can get their hands on Until Dawn 2, giving those who haven’t had their chance to play Marvel’s Wolverine a little time left before the next exclusive. If the trailer is any indication, the wait for the first PS5 exclusive of 2027 will be worth it.
