Play golf July 3 and support South Hagerstown athletics

The South Hagerstown High School Athletic Booster Club will host its annual golf tournament fundraiser July 3 at Maryland National Golf Club, 8836 Hollow Road, Middletown. The event aims to support student athletes at South Hagerstown High School, according to a community announcement.

The golf tournament provides an opportunity for golfers to start their Independence Day weekend on the course while supporting the school’s athletic programs. Proceeds will help the booster club, a 509(a)(2) non-profit organization, continue to provide equipment, summer league opportunities, an annual banquet and scholarship opportunities to students at South High.

The athletic boosters also plan to upgrade athletic facilities on campus to better serve athletes, parents and fans.

Golfers can register as individuals or sign up as a foursome with a 4 play/3 pay option. Registration is open online through June 26. Individual registration costs $150, and a foursome is $450. Registration includes a cart with course GPS and scoring, access to the practice facility, an unlimited beverage cart and a buffet-style grilled chicken lunch after the round.

Raffles and mulligans will be available for purchase but are not included in the registration fee. Golfers can pay in advance online or at the check-in table.

Check-in will begin at 7 a.m. in the clubhouse at Maryland National Golf Club in Middletown. The clubhouse restaurant will offer breakfast sandwiches and drinks.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 9 a.m., and the tournament will be played in a scramble format.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for alumni, businesses and community members who wish to support the event but may not be golfers.
