Speaking after the appointments, Best said the nominations reflected his administration’s commitment to equity, inclusiveness and merit, while reaffirming its focus on quality service delivery.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the new appointees to contribute to the university’s development and urged them to begin work without delay.

“We have a lot to catch up on. We are due for accreditation of 11 programmes and are also commencing the new academic session,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor also commended the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Moses Galadima, for his contributions to the institution.

Best said Galadima had played an important role in securing accreditation for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supporting examinations and facilitating the introduction of new courses. He also noted that the outgoing DVC chaired the university’s examination task force.

The VC further credited Galadima with helping to change the institution’s approach to student fee payments, moving it from a culture of non-payment towards prompt settlement of fees.

He also acknowledged Galadima’s involvement in improvements to the university’s information and communications technology systems, including the digitisation of student registration and transcript processes.

Best wished him well as he continues to contribute to the university in other capacities.

Ayuba pledges support for university’s vision

Responding on behalf of the newly appointed DVCs, Ayuba thanked the Senate and the Vice-Chancellor for the confidence placed in them.

She pledged to work diligently in support of the administration’s vision and said cooperation among members of the university community would be essential to achieving its goals.

“Together as a team, all things are possible,” she said.
