Pittsburgh kicked off its draft by selecting LSU outfielder Derek Curiel with the No. 5 overall pick, bringing the College World Series champion into the organization. To wrap up their high-profile early rounds, the Pirates selected Aiden Ruiz out of The Stony Brook School (NY) with the No. 44 overall pick. 10:43 p.m. ET: Per Jeff Passon, the Pirates traded the 34th pick in the draft to the White Sox for infielder Jacob Gonzalez and reliever Brandon Eisert.
