At this point, Kyle Schwarber is on a different level than just about any slugger in baseball.

The Philadelphia Phillies superstar homered again on Sunday, because of course he did. At this point, it’s almost more surprising when Schwarber doesn’t homer.

He has officially hit more homers than any other Phillies player ever through 80 games of a season — and this is only game 77, and Schwarber has only played 74 — with the stat coming from MLB Network’s Sarah Langs.

And as is often the case, Schwarber didn’t hit a wall scraper. He crushed it on Sunday Night Baseball against the New York Mets:

Schwarber is now chasing an incredible record across all of MLB, too.

Babe Ruth holds the record for most home runs in his first five seasons with a new team. In Ruth’s first five Yankees season, he hit 235 home runs.

Mark McGwire is second on that list, with 220 in his first five seasons with the Cardinals, per Langs.

Schwarber is now third on that list, with 216 after Sunday’s blast.

That’s ahead of Ralph Kiner (Pirates, 215), Alex Rodriguez (Yankees, 208), David Ortiz (Red Sox, 208) and Albert Pujols (Cardinals, 201).

That’s quite the company, and Schwarber has half a season to hit 20 more homers and claim the record for himself.

At this point, with the way Schwarber is swinging, no one would bet against it.
