PFIPC: Reps uncover fake documents, 58 accounts

The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee probing the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, has uncovered alleged forgery and alteration of presidential and legislative documents used to give the purported agency official legitimacy.

The committee, chaired by Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, also disclosed the discovery of 58 bank accounts allegedly linked to the self-acclaimed Director-General of the PFIPC, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

It also discovered an alleged N400 million transaction currently under investigation.

The committee equally exonerated the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, from allegations that he authorised, established or participated in the activities of the purported agency.

According to the committee, its preliminary findings established that the organisation was not lawfully created by the Federal Government and that documents allegedly used to confer presidential and legislative legitimacy on it were forged, fabricated or altered.

It said it further found that a purported letter appointing Adeyemi as Director-General of the PFIPC and allegedly bearing Gbajabiamila’s authority and signature was not issued by the Chief of Staff or the Presidency.

The lawmakers noted that evidence obtained from the State House established that no such appointment was made or approved by the Presidency and that the Chief of Staff neither issued nor signed the letter.
