Penn State vs Washington Prediction: Are the Huskies Good Again?
Just when it seemed like everything was falling apart in a wildly disappointing season for Washington, everything clicked in road wins over Purdue and Nebraska to turn everything around.
At 5-3, Washington’s dream of the College Football Playoff is all but gone, but it can make a lot of noise over the last month.
Penn State pulled up out of a four-game losing streak nosedive with its own win over Purdue. The last three games aren’t bad, and with a win, the first year under Matt Campbell can quickly start to look strong.

Why Penn State Will Win
That’s more like it, Penn State.
After weeks of struggling to move the ball, the running game went off on Purdue with 269 yards on 51 carries. The offense dominated the action, and the defense pitched its strongest game of the season. That all has to travel to Seattle.
As good as Washington has been, it’s still not great at converting its third down tries, and Penn State is fifth in the nation at stopping them.
Why Washington Will Win
That’s more like it, Washington.
What has gone so right for the Huskies over the last two games? The defense has been far better at keeping opposing passers from getting hot. The Huskies are 4-0 when allowing quarterbacks to complete fewer than 60% of their throws, and 1-4 when they don’t.
Penn State’s Rocco Becht has been hitting his throws, but the Washington defensive front is good at coming up with tackles for loss, and it’s not bad at applying pressure, even if it’s not coming up with sacks.
Penn State vs Washington Prediction, Betting Lines
Can Washington win a Big Ten game at home this season? (It’s 0-2, losing to Iowa and Minnesota.)
It might be a case of needing to get away for a little bit, reset, and then come back ready to be the team everyone was expecting. It’s been a crazy, inconsistent run, but the ground game needs to work.
The Husky offensive line hasn’t been strong enough at keeping defenses out of the backfield, but quarterback Demond Williams Jr. will have one of his best home games of the year, and the defense will hold up late in an excellent four-quarter battle.
