Patriots starting WR AJ Brown questionable to return with ankle injury

· · 1 min read

Another major injury in the first game of the NFL season. First, the Seattle Seahawks lost quarterback Sam Darnold for the game after suffering a hip injury on the first drive. Now, the New England Patriots may be without wide receiver AJ Brown, who suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter.

Up to that point, Brown was the leading receiver for New England with three receptions for 24 yards and was the clear No. 1 receiver for the Patriots going into this season. This game also marked his debut with the Patriots after he was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles in June. He was shown on camera heading to the locker room and in the X-ray room. His return to the game is questionable.

New England went three-and-out in their first full drive without Brown on the field, although they are still up 10-0. A reigning Super Bowl champion has never been shut out in their season opener, but the Seattle Seahawks are in danger of having that happen.
