Patriots release veteran linebacker after five training camp practices

The New England Patriots continued their offseason of roster moves prior to the start of their sixth training camp practice of the summer.

According to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, the Patriots released linebacker Otis Reese on Friday.

Reese originally signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He played in a total of 20 games, five of which he started, with the Titans from 2023-24, and recorded an interception, two quarterback hits and a tackle for loss in that span. The Titans waived Reese prior to the start of the 2025 season.

The 28-year-old veteran was signed to the Patriots’ practice squad midway through last season. He did not play in a game in the 2025 season. Reese signed a futures contract with the Patriots for the 2026 season in the offseason prior to being released.

New England will move forward with a linebacker unit headlined by Christian Elliss, Robert Spillane, Chad Muma and K.J. Britt as training camp continues on.
