The New England Patriots are a well-run organization, which is a big reason they’ve found the success they have over the past few decades. New England has also shown a willingness to be aggressive at the right moments over the past few years, including hiring Mike Vrabel after letting go of Jerod Mayo.
The Vrabel hire has already paid off, as he took the team to the Super Bowl in his first year as head coach.
This offseason, the Patriots tried to keep building around quarterback Drake Maye, who is already one of the best in the NFL despite his age.
New England traded for A.J. Brown, and former Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty said that should be viewed as a scary thing for the rest of the NFL.
“I think he’s going scorched Earth in his revenge tour. He’s gonna be like that bad kid in the summer who’s been forced to stay inside and do summer reading.
“Now he’s coming back to the playground to reassert his dominance. Being moved on by Philadelphia, traded to the New England Patriots, he is going to be with a superstar quarterback in Drake Maye and an offensive coordinator in Josh McDaniels that knows how to get his key players the ball in positions to succeed. So, I’m looking for a big season from A.J. Brown,” he said, H/T FanSided.
Brown is among the top five receivers in the NFL when things are right.
He played in more of a run-first offense with the Philadelphia Eagles before this trade, but was still a star with Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.
Now with Maye and other weapons around him, there’s reason to believe that he’s only going to continue to get better with his former head coach, who he played with when they were both with the Tennessee Titans.
