It is officially game night in New England, and a familiar face will help Patriots fans prepare for the team’s return to Gillette Stadium. Patriots Hall of Famer Troy Brown is joining the organization’s pregame and postgame shows for the 2026 season. Brown will make his debut Thursday night when New England opens its preseason schedule against the Indianapolis Colts.

The revamped “Patriots Pregame Show” will begin at 6:15 p.m. ET on Patriots.com and the team’s YouTube channel. Brown will work alongside new host Jack Webb and longtime Patriots.com contributors Paul Perillo and Mike Dussault. The show will provide news, injury updates, matchup breakdowns and other information before kickoff. Brown and the panel also will return after the game to deliver immediate reactions and analyze the night’s defining moments.

“I’m just excited to get back in it and have a presence around the game, being able to talk about it with knowledgeable people and putting out a good product,” Brown said, per the Patriots.

Troy Brown Brings Unique Patriots Perspective

Few people are better equipped to explain the Patriots to their fans than Brown. The 54-year-old spent his entire 15-season NFL career with New England after the organization selected him in the eighth round of the 1993 NFL Draft. He contributed as a wide receiver, return specialist and defensive back while helping the Patriots capture their first three Super Bowl championships.

Brown finished his playing career with 557 receptions, 6,366 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns. He also returned three punts for touchdowns and made three interceptions while helping the secondary during the 2004 season. The Patriots inducted Brown into their team Hall of Fame in 2012. He later returned to the organization as an assistant coach from 2020 through 2024, giving him experience viewing the game from both sides of the sideline.

“I hope it just brings a different insight,” Brown said. “I played for a long time, and I’ll be able to share those experiences from being on the inside of it and give a little bit of insight into what I would be thinking in those situations.”

Patriots Football Returns Thursday Night

Brown’s debut adds another layer of anticipation to New England’s preseason opener. The Patriots will play their first game since last season’s Super Bowl loss, although the night will primarily be about evaluating the back end of the roster. Several established starters could receive limited work or remain on the sideline.

Indianapolis plans to start Anthony Richardson at quarterback and play him throughout the first half. His extended appearance should provide a meaningful test for New England’s reserve defenders and players competing for roster spots. The matchup also follows Tuesday’s joint practice between the teams, giving both coaching staffs an opportunity to evaluate how their players respond after competing against many of the same opponents earlier in the week.

Thursday marks the first preseason meeting between the Patriots and Colts since 1992 and only the third overall. The final score will not carry lasting consequences, but game night remains an important milestone. After weeks of practices, position battles and speculation, the Patriots finally will have live football to evaluate.

Brown will be there to help fans make sense of it all.
