LeBron James is the newest addition to the Philadelphia 76ers, and is the latest destination for the global basketball superstar. After leaving the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent, he had many options to choose from including the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and many other franchises.
However, he chose the 76ers in order to win the championship one more time. One person thinks that James must do one thing with his new team’s fans.
Patrick Beverley asks LeBron James to move to Philadelphia
James recently signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the 76ers in July 2026. Multiple sources have reported that the former Lakers star will not live in Philadelphia, but would instead travel by helicopter from nearby residences in New York City or New Jersey. This journey could take him about 45 minutes.
Patrick Beverley appeared in 47 games for the 76ers during the 2023-24 season before a midseason trade to Milwaukee. Having experienced playing for the franchise, he had one key advice to give to James. He asked the superstar to reconsider his decision not to live in Philadelphia, saying that he would miss out on a great fan experience.
Beverley said, “I ain’t going to front. I know it’s mixed stories and we don’t never know what Bron’s doing, but my time there I lived in Old City, you feel me? Like I lived in Old City. I lived in Philly. The love I got in Philly was some of the best love I’ve ever experienced my entire career in the NBA. The city of brotherly love. No wrong.”
He added, “You would appreciate it more living in Philly and you got to bring what they want. Philly is know for like having it’s players backs. One thing about Philly I’ve noticed too, they know the game of basketball. They’re not just like fans that just they don’t come late. It ain’t going to be the LA vibes. It’s going to be they going to be there during warmups.”
It’s clear that he feels James could miss out on a key experience of the city and its fans. The 41-year-old is already bringing some positive impact to his memorabilia.
LeBron James brings ‘big boom’ to memorabilia value
James was widely expected to join his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. After it did not materialize, apparently his memorabilia related to his former team is already becoming more valuable. Realest founder and CEO Scott Keeney recently addressed this development.
He said, “I think it does. I think it brings awareness to to the entire landscape. It’s a new jersey that he has. It also, uh, you know, for historical items, right? There people thought he might go back to other teams like the Cavs. There’s not going to be any more Cavs LeBron jerseys.”
He added, “So, um, that’s probably where he will be remembered. So we think for Cavs Memorabilia specifically, who are one of our clients, but we think for them and actually is a is a is a big, big boom. Um, just because now we know that everything out there is finite.”
LeBron James remains one of the biggest stars in the NBA, and will only fuel more excitement in the league.
