Packers QB Jordan Love Puts Josh Jacobs And Run Game On Notice

· · 2 min read

The return of star running back Josh Jacobs to action hasn’t exactly translated into a big improvement in the Green Bay Packers’ rushing attack.

In his first game back after getting removed from the commissioner’s exempt list for pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges, Jacobs rushed 11 times for only 36 rushing yards in a 20-17 loss on the road last Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

As a team, Green Bay only came up with 60 rushing yards on 19 carries in that game, with MarShawn Lloyd producing 20 yards on six carries.

This season, Green Bay is last in the league with 59.9 rushing yards per game and also 32nd overall with 2.9 yards per carry.

Love Comments on The Packers’ Need to Step up on The Ground

Jordan Love and the team’s passing attack have been doing the heavy lifting for Green Bay’s offense, which is 24th in the NFL through seven weeks with only 20.6 points per contest.

Love knows Green Bay has a lot of catching up to do in the run game.

“We’ve made it by in a couple of these games. We’ve leaned on the pass game … if we wanna be the team we wanna be, we definitely gotta improve the run game,” the former Utah State Aggies star quarterback told reporters on Tuesday, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

Perhaps it will start to truly become better for Green Bay on the ground in Week 8, with Jacobs having shed some rust following a long absence.

The Packers are set to face the Carolina Panthers in a Thursday Night Football matchup at Lambeau Field.

The Panthers’ porous defense seemingly presents a great opportunity for Green Bay’s run game to break out.

Carolina is 27th in the league with 27.7 points allowed per game and last against the run with 153.2 rushing yards surrendered per outing.
