Packers lead Panthers 6-3 after Trey Smack misses another PAT

The Packers stuck with kicker Trey Smack after his misses from 26 and 35 in a 20-17 loss to the Lions last week. It’s looking like a bad decision.

The sixth-round rookie hit the left upright on a PAT try with 5:08 remaining in the first quarter, his third missed extra point of the season. He has now missed eight kicks.

The Packers lead the Panthers 6-3.

Packers wide receiver Coleman Owen fumbled the opening kickoff, and linebacker Nick Hampton recovered for the Panthers. Carolina gained only 8 yards in the drive before Ryan Fitzgerald kicked a 39-yard field goal.

The Packers took the lead on their second possession, with Jordan Love hitting Tucker Kraft for a 12-yard score.

They converted a third-and-11 on an incomplete pass from Love to Matthew Golden, when Panthers rookie Will Lee was called for pass interference.

Love is 5-of-7 for 43 yards and a touchdown.
