Oyo abduction: Secure communities sharing borders with old Oyo National Park – Olubadan tells Tinubu, Makinde

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja has enjoined both the federal government led by President Bola Ahmed and the Oyo State Government led by Engineer Seyi Makinde to provide adequate security for the communities that share boundaries with old Oyo National Park. 

Ladoja, a former governor of the State, noted that this was necessary to avoid recurrence of the recent abduction in some communities in Oriire local government area. 

DAILY POST reports that old Oyo National Park has been a source of security concern for residents of the State. 

DAILY POST reports that about 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped on Friday 15th May 2026 in some communities in Oriire local government area. 

It was learnt that the park is where the victims were kept before they were subsequently rescued on Friday. 

Ladoja in his reaction, advised the governments to take proactive steps by securing the communities that share borders with the park. 

The traditional ruler said this in a statement signed by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, made available to DAILY POST on Saturday. 

‘The release of the victims is a landmark achievement of the present administration in the country. The issue of the country is being taken seriously by the administration. 

‘As a follow up to this development, the government must ensure that all the communities that share border with the National Park are fully secure. Also, the government must ensure proper rehabilitation of the victims,” he said.
