Ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial election in Osun, the state governor and candidate of the Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke has raised fresh allegations against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Thursday, the governor accused the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and former governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola of punishing Osun people for voting for him in 2022.

Adeleke alleged that on numerous occasions, Oyetola and Oyebamiji “used their influence within the ruling party at the federal level to punish the people of Osun State simply because they chose to vote for us in 2022.”

The governor further claimed that the actions of the duo targeted the welfare of Osun workers and threatened the livelihoods of the state’s civil servants, traders, artisans, and ordinary citizens.

He vowed that the August 15 election would be more than “just winning,” stating that the outcome would send a strong message to the ruling party.

According to him, “it is about securing a decisive victory that sends a clear and unmistakable message to the APC, the people of Osun State must always be respected, their democratic choice must be honoured, and no one should ever seek to punish them for exercising their constitutional right to vote.”
