The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has uploaded over 96 per cent of the results from the Osun State governorship election to its Results Viewing Portal, IReV.

A check by DAILY POST at exactly 3am on Sunday showed that the commission was keeping to its earlier promise to upload results from the election to the portal.

Voters across Osun State on Saturday cast their ballots to elect the next occupant of the Bola Ige Government House for a four-year term.

A total of 15 political parties participated in the governorship election, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

INEC has uploaded results from at least 24 of the 30 Local Government Areas in the state.

Of the 24 LGAs, the APC won eight, while the Accord Party secured the remaining 16.

Adeleke was leading with 347,730 votes, while Oyebamiji followed with 283,653 votes. The African Democratic Congress, ADC, was in third place with 13,143 votes.

Results from other polling units continue to trickle in as collation progresses across the state.

The election was, however, marred by reports of intimidation, vote-buying and other forms of electoral violence in some areas, although voting proceeded successfully in many parts of the state.
