Osun APC chieftains reject Presidential Campaign Council list, demand review
Some members of the Osun State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have rejected the recently released list of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, demanding an immediate review of its composition.
The party officials expressed dissatisfaction with the list, saying it did not adequately reflect established party guidelines, due process and the principle of inclusiveness required in constituting such an important campaign structure.
The position was contained in an official rejoinder signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola; Assistant Organising Secretary, Rasheed Adeniji, and Ex-Officio, Abiola Ololade.
Declaring their position, the signatories stated, “We, therefore, reject the list in its present form. We cite the omission of several members of the State Working Committee who were expected to be statutory members of the council.
“The exclusion of the recognised party officials raises serious concerns about consultation, due process, and respect for the party’s established leadership structure.”
The signatories also questioned the composition of the newly released council, adding that it appeared inconsistent with an earlier presidential directive reportedly naming Governor Ademola Adeleke as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council in Osun State.
According to the statement, “following the directive, Governor Adeleke promptly inaugurated a broad-based campaign team to drive the presidential campaign across the state.”
The officials questioned why another structure had emerged without adequate clarification or alignment with the existing arrangement, adding that the new list would be more understandable if it was intended for a Parliamentary Campaign Council rather than the Presidential Campaign Council.
They stated, “This distinction must be clearly established to avoid confusion, duplication of responsibilities, and unnecessary friction within the party’s campaign structure.”
The signatories maintained that the APC State Executive Committee remained an integral part of the party’s organisational framework and “cannot be sidelined in the constitution of a state-wide campaign council”.
They added that an effective campaign required “mutual respect, proper coordination, and the active involvement of legitimate party stakeholders.”
The officials also requested consultations with relevant stakeholders, including the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and the State Director-General, to ensure proper alignment and effective coordination.
Reaffirming their support for Tinubu, the signatories said, “We remain fully committed to the success of our presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the overall interests of the APC.”
They insisted that the council must respect party structures, recognise legitimate leadership and accommodate critical stakeholders, adding that no legitimate stakeholder should be left behind.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that the Osun APC had appointed its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as Director-General of its 2027 Presidential and Parliamentary Campaign Committee.
The state chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement on Monday confirmed the constitution of the campaign committee and a 58-member Elders’ Council.
According to Lawal, the appointments followed the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on October 14, 2026, and the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council by Governor Ademola Adeleke on October 22.
He said the committees were established to strengthen the party’s campaign machinery and mobilise votes for Tinubu’s re-election and APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
