Only AQ Shipley Until Penn State Football

· · 1 min read

No one has the number 57 on Penn State’s 2026 roster, so for today’s entry we are turning back the clock to one of the most decorated linemen in program history.

AQ Shipley played both defensive and offensive line early in his Penn State career but was named the starting center in 2006. In 2007, he was named first team All-Big Ten during his junior season. His best season by far came in 2008, where he served as one of Penn State’s offensive captains and led one of the best offensive lines in the country. He received several accolades during his senior season, including the Rimington Trophy and first team All-Big Ten and All-American honors.

Shipley was drafted in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in 110 NFL games- including 72 starts- across nine seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A neck injury in 2020 abruptly ended his NFL career, though he did receive a Super Bowl ring as a member of the 2020 Buccaneers.

Only 57 days until Penn State’s season opener against Marshall!
