Onetime Cowboys DE arrested on domestic battery allegations, released on bond

Former NFL defensive end and onetime Cowboys starter Marcellus Wiley, who parlayed a 10-year career on the field into an even longer post-retirement gig as a broadcaster, was arrested over the July 4 weekend on domestic battery charges.

Wiley, 51, was removed from a Florida hotel on Saturday following allegations from his wife that he “used one finger to sternly and intentionally poke her in the cheek” during an argument and that he threatened to kill her.

The couple and their three children were in Orlando for a basketball tournament, and their seven-year-old daughter reportedly witnessed the incident. Per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, she “told deputies she did not see Marcellus touch her mother but did hear them arguing.”

Annemarie Wiley, who gained some amount of celebrity as a cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, told police that her husband has an unreported history of violence toward her and stated that she had plans to divorce Wiley upon their return home to California.

Wiley, who denies that the altercation got physical, was released from police custody Sunday night after posting a cash bond of $1,000.

Wiley was a second-round draft pick of the Bills in 1997. He played four years in Buffalo and three years for the Chargers, picking up a Pro Bowl nod in 2001. He joined the Cowboys for the 2004 season under the Bill Parcells regime, logging 38 tackles and three sacks in 16 game appearances (15 starts) before closing out his playing career with two final seasons in Jacksonville.

He went on to various television and radio hosting duties at ESPN and then jumped ship for Fox Sports in 2018.
