One key takeaway from Wisconsin men's hockey's non-conference schedule

The Wisconsin Badgers men’s hockey non-conference schedule is here, and it’s headlined by a pair of games at a school where Mike Hastings used to coach.

Dates had already been revealed for a thrilling showdown against Omaha on December 10-11, but now a few more opponents and locations have been revealed.

To get the season started, Robert Morris will come to Madison for a series on October 2-3. From there, things get interesting.

Other than the neutral site Kwik Trip Holiday Face Off, the Badgers lone non-conference slate will be at Minnesota State on October 9-10.

Obviously, Hastings has quite the ties with the Mavericks, as he was the head coach over there from 2012-2023.

Remember, Wisconsin and Minnesota State split two games at the Kohl Center during the 2025-26 season.

The only other notable addition to the Badgers’ schedule sees Canisius come to town on November 28-29.

As for the rest of their 2026-27 slate, here’s a reminder of what to expect in terms of Big Ten action.

• March 4-5: at Notre Dame
