The Miami Marlins have come out swinging this year. They have been a fun team to watch and a huge surprise this season. 

Going into Wednesday’s games, they hold a 52-50 record, which is good for third place in the National League East, sitting seven games behind the division-leading Atlanta Braves. 

While they have had a tough time as of late, they are right in the thick of things when talking about the playoff race. They are just a half-game behind the Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks for the final NL wild card spot.

With the loss on Tuesday to the Houston Astros, the Marlins are now on an eight-game losing streak. A few more losses and this team may be sellers rather than buyers at the deadline, but we’re not there yet. 

Instead, we’re being optimistic, looking for this team to be aggressive. Per Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller, they need third base help, and Isaac Paredes looks like a great option. 

“They sure could use some help at third base, where they have gotten a dreadful .559 OPS for the year… Isaac Paredes’ contract–$9.5M this season with a $13.5M club option for 2027–figures to be much more in their comfort zone. However, they would have to part with some serious prospects to A) get Houston to move him and B) edge out the other offers if he is on the block.”

While Paredes wouldn’t cost the team much financially, he would likely cost them some quality prospects, but it fixes a major hole for the team that has a chance to get into the postseason. 

It will be interesting to see how this team moves over the next week or so as the deadline is quickly approaching.
