It feels like just yesterday that the Oklahoma Soonershall/">landed athlete Tra’Von Hall for their 2027 recruiting class, after losing WR Brayden Allen to LSU. But that was in December.

Allen started his recruitment as a Tulane commit, flipped to Oklahoma, made it seem as if he was locked in with OU, and then committed to LSU. Hall was the ninth commit in OU’s 2027 class, and the sixth offensive player to pledge in a class full of 23. Key word, was.

The Sooners started June 1, 2026, with 23 commits in their 2027 recruiting class. Then, Demare Dezeurn, a four-star wide receiver, parted ways with the team. Parker Thune of SoonerScoop reported that the two sides basically grew apart.

Now, on Saturday night, Hall, whom we’ve already mentioned, has decommitted and flipped to Ole Miss. He was a three-star in a class loaded with blue-chip players, so it won’t hurt their ranking too badly. However, he is a good football player.

The Sooners will have to find a receiver to replace Hall and Dezeurn with. Hall was listed as an athlete, but he was probably going to be a receiver. He’s 6-0, 180 pounds, which is a good size for an SEC wide receiver. The Sooners have sent 35 total offers to receivers in the 2027 recruiting class. As things currently stand, none of them are expected to commit to Oklahoma. However, that could always change.

Hall initially picked Oklahoma over the Ole Miss Rebels, Auburn Tigers, and Vanderbilt Commodores. Now he’s heading to what was his second option. Maybe he would have picked them initially, but the Lane Kiffin stuff was going on at the time, and the uncertainty around Ole Miss’ head-coaching situation could have been confusing.

Either way, the Sooners have to make a move on a receiver to have at least one more in this class. That could happen later in the cycle.
