Ogun 2027 Election: Put primary behind you, embrace reconciliation – Isiaka tells APC members

The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Isiaka Ayokunle, has called for unity among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency following the conclusion of the party’s primary election.

Isiaka said the primary had come and gone and produced candidates for various positions, urging members to avoid grudges or actions capable of undermining the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 general election.

He asked all members of the party to put the primary contests behind them and channel their energy towards the common objective of achieving success at the polls.

The Deputy Chief Whip made the call on Thursday at a meeting of party faithful convened under the EasyLife Movement in Ifo to address his supporters and reinforce the need for cohesion.

Speaking at the meeting, which was attended by apex leaders, local government and ward leaders and stakeholders from Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas, including former Speaker Olakunle Oluomo and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, Isiaka reaffirmed his support for the party’s candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Adijat Adeleye.

According to him, the party’s electoral performance in the federal constituency has shown steady growth across previous election cycles, expressing confidence that the APC would secure even more votes in 2027 if members remained united.

Earlier, former Ogun APC Chairman, Derin Adebiyi, said the primary race had ended and should not be allowed to generate acrimony or division, explaining that the meeting was called at Isiaka’s instance to sustain unity among his supporters and the wider APC family.

He urged members to return to their wards, reconcile their differences and mobilise voters en masse for the party.

Party chieftains, including Hamzat, Oduwole and Sogbamu, commended Isiaka for his resilience and commitment, describing the gathering as a demonstration of political maturity, party loyalty and belief in party supremacy.

In her remarks, the APC candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Adijat Adeleye, described the gathering as a significant demonstration that the party is bigger than individual interests.

She called on party leaders, former aspirants, women, youths and ward executives to embrace genuine reconciliation, assuring that she was ready to work with every member of the party family, irrespective of their positions during the primary.

Adeleye urged members to return to their wards with renewed commitment and translate the spirit of reconciliation into massive votes for the APC in Ifo/Ewekoro and across Ogun State in the 2027 elections.
