Official: Real Sociedad secure key contract renewal

La Liga outfit Real Sociedad have this week announced a contract renewal which will no doubt go down a treat with the club’s supporters.

This comes amid confirmation that young defender Jon Martín has committed his long-term future to the Basques.

Stopper Martín is for his part fresh off something of a breakout season at Anoeta in 2025/26. After showcasing his talents in glimpses the campaign prior, the 20-year-old went on to establish himself as a key figure in Sociedad’s backline last time out.

All told, between La Liga and the Copa del Rey, Martín racked up 29 starts.

So impressive were the Spaniard’s performances along the way that Martín was in turn linked with a move to some of Europe’s leading clubs, including Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.

All of a Real Sociedad persuasion will therefore be nothing short of delighted with the latest word stemming from the club’s base on Thursday.

As per a statement across the Txuri-Urdin’s social media platforms:

‘Real Sociedad and Jon Martín have reached an agreement to renew their contract. The new agreement, signed this morning at the Anoeta offices, extends until the end of the 2031-32 season.’
