Official: Jürgen Klopp appointed as Germany national team head coach

As officially announced by the German Football Association (DFB) this morning, Jürgen Klopp will be the new national team coach.

In doing so, Klopp has signed a contract until after the 2030 World Cup and thus leaves his role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer.

As compensation, the DFB will pay €1million to an RB foundation supporting medical spinal cord research dubbed “Wings for Life”.

In the third week of September, Klopp will nominate his national team squad for the first time since taking the job.

He will get his first taste of action in the Nations League, which kicks off against the Netherlands on September 24 in Amsterdam.

Three days later, Greece will be the opponent in Augsburg’s WWK Arena for Klopp’s home debut as the 13th-ever Germany head coach.
