Official: Inter hand new contract extension to 37-year-old Mkhitaryan

Inter have officially confirmed that 37-year-old midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has put pen to paper on a new contract extension that will keep him with the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Official: Mkhitaryan stays with Inter until 2027

The Armenian had been out of contract on June 30, but was offered the opportunity to extend his stay with the club, an option which he has since taken up.

The Nerazzurri, meanwhile, announced the departures of four other senior players with expiring contracts on Tuesday (June 30), namely Yann Sommer, Stefan De Vrij, Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian.

Recent reports indicate that Mkhitaryan will earn a base salary of around €2m for the coming season in San Siro. This is a significant reduction from the €3.8m base salary that the former Arsenal and Manchester United midfielder was believed to be earning on his previous contract.

The veteran midfielder took part in 39 matches across all competitions in 2025-26, chipping in with four goals and three assists from the middle of the park.

He will continue in a midfield department that also includes Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Petar Sucic, Piotr Zielinski and Andy Diouf. Davide Frattesi and Aleksandar Stankovic are still on the club’s books as well, but could potentially be on their way out during the summer transfer window.
