Obi Mikel names manager Man Utd should appoint as Carrick's replacement

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has snubbed Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe while naming the manager Manchester United should appoint if they decide to part ways with Michael Carrick.

Carrick is under pressure at Old Trafford due to the club’s poor performances so far this season.

Carrick’s side currently sit close to the relegation zone in the Premier League table ahead of their next match against Chelsea this week.

Several managers, including Howe, Antonio Conte, Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery and Fabian Hurzeler have been linked with replacing Carrick at Man United.

Asked if Howe or Nagelsmann would be his number one choice for United, Obi Mikel said on the Obi One Podcast, “Neither. I would go for Unai Emery.”
