NEW YORK — After an empty offensive performance on Thursday night, the Mets punched back against the Phillies on Friday night.

Juan Soto collected three hits, including a three-run home run, to set the tone for the Mets in a 6-3 victory over their NL East rivals.

Now, as the Mets retire Carlos Beltran’s No. 15, the club will look to back up the momentous day with a victory at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday at Citi Field.

The Cubs, Phillies and Padres all share identical 85-69 records and sit in the three NL wild card positions. They are five games up on the Diamondbacks, the nearest competition for one of those slots.

The Mets snapped a five-game losing streak with Friday night’s win to improve to 70-84.

Christian Scott will be making his 23rd start of the season for the Mets.

The right-hander is coming off a hard-luck defeat last time out against the Yankees when he was tagged with the loss despite holding the crosstown rivals to two earned runs on three hits, including a pair of solo home runs, and two ealks in six innings while striking out seven.

Scott enters Saturday’s matchup with a 4-5 record, 3.76 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 105⅓ innings.

The Mets will be lining up against Phillies rookie right-hander Andrew Painter, who enters with a 3-9 record and 5.54 ERA. The 23-year-old allowed one earned run on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts in five innings against the Braves in his most recent start.
