‘Nothing wrong with couples maintaining separate bank accounts’ – Davido

Nigerian music star, Davido, has said he supports couples having separate bank accounts, stressing that both men and women should maintain personal finances for their own security.

Speaking during an appearance on The Uncut Podcast, the singer was asked whether he believes women should keep secret bank accounts away from their partners. In response, Davido said he sees nothing wrong with the idea and believes it should apply to both partners.

He said, “Yeah, I think it’s good. I actually think they should; you never know. If I ever found out that my wife had a secret bank account, I’d not be angry; I think everybody should have their own.”  

According to Davido, having independent finances is important because no one can predict what the future holds. He noted that both men and women should be financially prepared and able to stand on their own if circumstances change.

Davido maintained that personal financial independence is beneficial in relationships, concluding that everyone should have their own account regardless of their marital status.

“I think everybody should have their own,” Davido added.
