Manchester United are making no plans to keep Luke Shaw at the club beyond his current contract’s expiry.

As things stand, he will be leaving the Red Devils at the end of the season.

Shaw’s terms, which do not include a 12-month option, run until June 2027 following his four-year extension back in 2023.

Despite being at Old Trafford since 2014, last term marked a career-first for the defender, as he was available to start all 38 Premier League fixtures.

Michael Carrick has deployed Shaw from the off in every game that he’s been available since the manager’s tenure began, with Shaw missing out against both Sabah and Manchester City through injury concerns.

Yet, it’s not as if Carrick has been spoilt for choice in the position since he took charge; after Patrick Dorgu adopted a more attacking role on the left wing, Shaw is now the only senior left-back in the squad.

Fans were fuming when the transfer window closed a fortnight ago without any reinforcements being added to the full-back department, and INEOS will now have to wait until January to bolster the side.

Meanwhile, MailSport has claimed that there is ‘no indication’ the England international will be at United for the beginning of 2027/2028.

It would see Shaw become a free agent at 31 years old and after 13 years in M16. He is currently the longest-serving player in the squad, with Diogo Dalot, who joined in 2018, ranking in second place.

INEOS have also set their sights on a complete defensive revamp next summer, so it’s perhaps not a surprise that they’re willing to start it off by bidding farewell to the injury-prone, ageing Red.
