No. 1 Texas vs. No. 14 Tennessee: Second injury report released

Junior edge Colin Simmons is no longer listed on the SEC-mandated Thursday injury report for the No. 1 Texas Longhorns ahead of Saturday’s matchup against the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville after the initial release on Wednesday listed Simmons as probable following a foot injury sustained in last week’s win over the UTSA Roadrunners.

Joining the three players listed as out on Wednesday — sophomore defensive lineman Justus Terry, junior nickel back Xavier Filsaime, and sophomore offensive lineman Jordan Coleman — is sophomore tight end Nick Townsend, who was previously listed as doubtful after suffering a knee injury in the win over Ohio State.

Still listed as questionable is senior running back Hollywood Smothers, who is dealing with a reported lower-leg injury. According to CBS Sports, there’s “legitimate concern” that the NC State transfer won’t be available against Tennessee. Through three games, Smothers is the leading rusher for the Longhorns with 198 yards on 41 carries with two touchdowns.
