Nine bodies of suspected bandit victims found by roadside in Niger

Nine dead bodies have been recovered along the Wawa-Lumma road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, following an attack suspected to have been carried out by bandits.
The victims were reportedly travelling along the route when they were attacked and killed.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the discovery on Wednesday, with its spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, saying security personnel were deployed to the area after receiving information about the incident on Tuesday.

Abiodun told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that police and military personnel recovered the bodies from the scene.

He said security forces had also stepped up clearance operations in the area as part of efforts to restore safety and prevent further attacks.

The latest incident comes shortly after security agencies rescued 308 people abducted during separate attacks in Kwara and Niger states.

A total of 163 victims were rescued from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while 145 others were freed following a separate abduction incident in Niger State.
