US sportswear firm Nike, which is taking over from long-term supplier Adidas as the Germany kit manufacturer next year, has appeared to hint at the new design in an attempt to upstage its rival.

German firm Adidas has said sales of their last Germany shirts for this World Cup are set to hit a record of more than 3 million, but Nike is already making moves.

Mario Götze, who scored the winner for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final and is under contract with Nike, unpacked a parcel with the Nike emblem in an Instagram story and then showed a white shirt with a black collar which was heavily pixelated.

A banner in New Jersey has also been spotted featuring Germany star Jamal Musiala in another heavily pixelated white shirt with a black collar.

The banner, which Germany’s Bild newspaper said was towed by a boat on Thursday and also included the Nike swoosh, had the pun, “Hello New Jersey.”
